AIBS has established a working group of biologists to help organize and coordinate efforts within the scientific community to determine the types of infrastructure and data-networking capabilities that are needed for biological observatory systems at regional and continental scales as well as the best means for attaining, organizing, and providing access to these tools. The proposed National Ecological Observatory Network will receive special focus. The working group will meet face-to-face in Washington, DC each spring and fall and will be available by email and telephone at other times. In addition, members of the working group will convene town meetings across the country to hear from interested parties.
